Shameer Nyland Kinniya’s art practice deals with the value of the self on a mental, physical and emotional plan. Contrasting dark humour with serious issues, Kinniya’s work reflects a corporeal and sentimental violence. The painting “You’ll Fail. (Popup pt.1)” presented at Occupy Landscape aims to visualise the constant imagined pressure of individual and other’s expectations.

Currently graduating from Tromsø Academy of Contemporary Art bachelor, and previous student at the Rogaland School of Art, Shameer Nyland Kinniya is a Norwegian-Sri Lankan artist born in 1986 in Stavanger.
